Gunlock State Park

A smaller, scenic park known for seasonal waterfalls at Gunlock Falls, views of desert mesas, and opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and scenic drives. Conditions vary with snowmelt/runoff; waterfalls are strongest late winter and early spring. Terrain around the falls can be rocky. It’s a low-traffic destination with a peaceful atmosphere.

  • Gunlock Falls Area Trail

A short walk leading to seasonal waterfalls cascading over red rock formations when water is flowing. Terrain is rocky and uneven near the falls, with slickrock surfaces. Late winter and early spring are best when the falls are active. Visit in the morning for softer lighting and fewer crowds.

Camping

Developed campground with basic amenities. Dispersed camping on surrounding public lands.

Spring and fall, especially during waterfall flow season.

Location

Gunlock State Park is only a 30 minute drive from St George. It’s close proximity makes for a great park to visit with minimal travel time.
